Sterkfontein Dam

Spot Info:
Sterkfontein is about 3.5 hours from Pretoria, and is one of the windiest inland spots with the most consistent wind throughout the year. One should be aware as the wind can pick up to over 30 knots within minutes. The launch area is spacious, but can get overcrowded with kites on windy weekends. One should avoid kiting this spot in mid winter if they are learning to kite as the water and air temp gets very low. This is also a good spot if you are into Speed kiting as kiting is done in the bay and the water within the bay is super flat with the right wind direction

This spot works great in a North West through to a Westerly wind.If you enjoy Speed kiting the best wind is a Westerly.
