| What is Kitesurfing | |
Video is a Thousand pictures...Kitesurfing or kiteboarding is a surface water sport that uses wind power to pull a rider through the water on a small surfboard or a kiteboard (similar to a wakeboard). A kitesurfer use a board with or without foot-straps or bindings, combined with the power of a large controllable kite to propel him/her and the board across the water. Just like sailing a kitesurfer can ride down wind and up against the wind at a angle. The estimated amount of kitesurfers in 2006 around the world was between 150 000 and 210 000 with 114 465 kites sold that year alone! Kitesurfing in GautengThis amazing water sport became very popular inland. If you think about it, you only need wind, water and a decent rigging space for your kit.
Inland Kitesurfing specialize in kitesurfing on local dams in and around Gauteng. Our windy season Inland is from the beginning of April until the end of November where we kite an average of 4-6 times per month!
The launch of Cabrinha Bow kites in 2006 made kitesurfing inland more accessible and easier. With Cabrinha being the company first to launch a Bow kite and thus have the longest R&D on bow’s, their kites have the best ability to handle gusty conditions, huge depower and the quickest relaunch of any kite brand on the market, it’s the ideal kite to ride! Over 100 of our students fly Cabrinha, and this kite proved itself to get kiters up and riding the quickest as well as compliments their on-growing kiting skill. Making this an ideal once-off purchase! |
