Water course part 1

Introduction to the water course part 1

This is the next step in your learning experience and all students must have completed the beginner’s course in order to advance to the water course. This is where we step up your training and you get your 1st chance at flying the inflatable kites. This also the course where you will start to draw upon the skills you learned at the beginner’s course and many things will start to fall into place; also having the kite flying skills helps as you will have a good knowledge on kite control and the wind. The biggest difference between the inflatable kites to the foil kites previously flown is that you will have triple the power but this power will be controllable through the bar system.

What is learnt at the water course part 1:
• Learning the international kite communication hand signals.
• Safety systems + IDS
• LEI (Leading edge inflatable) kite flying skills.
• Flying from side to side and through the power zone.
• Twisting and un-twisting of the lines: bar spinning and body turning
• Usage and practice of safety systems and learning the “safe zone”
• Assisted launch and landing.
• One-hand kite flying skills.
• Blind flying.
• Water re-launching of your kite.
• Down-wind body-dragging while hooked in the harness.
